HISTORY

“During the Macedonian payment system reform in 2001, Macedonian banks established Klirinski interbankarski sistemi AD Skopje (KIBS) as a joint stock company. KIBS was registered as a legal entity in 2001 by its entry in the Single Trade Registry of the Macedonian Central Register.

The main objective of the establishment of KIBS is clearing of small interbank payment transactions. As an operator in the payment system and in line with the Law on Payment Transactions, KIBS plays a central role in clearing and settlement of interbank payment transactions for small amounts in the Republic of Macedonia. In its operation so far, it has successfully performed the activity of an automated clearing house, and according to statistic indicators, its scope of operations has shown a tendency of constant growth since it was established.

Pursuant to the Law on Payment Transactions, and upon approval by the Ministry of Finance, KIBS runs the Single Registry of Transaction Accounts (ERTS), exchanges information on account blockage, and exchanges other information of its members’ concern.

By using the modern information technology and available staff structure, KIBS has created its own application solutions for the services it provides as a legal obligation as well as for customized solutions in agreement with clients.

Since June 2006, KIBS has been the issuer of Verba digital certificates and has been entered in the Single Registry of Certificate Issuers, kept by the Ministry of Finance. Furthermore, since 2010, It has also been the representative and dealer of a wide range of SSL (server) certificates issued by the most distinguished issuers of such kinds of certificates, VeriSign, GeoTrust and Thawte.

In late 2008, KIBS established the Macedonian Credit Bureau, the first credit bureau in Macedonia, with the basic function being complete or partial collection and processing of data for the entities’ liabilities, other details in line with the Law on Credit Bureau and production of reports on debt and regularity of a respective entity’s meeting their obligations.
